    Wiping the dust off

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by grannyjay, May 24, 2018.

Hello, everyone. I'm Jay. Or JayJay. Or just J. I also answer to Hey.

I went to college to be a writer. After graduation I spent the next 16 years raising and educating my kids. Now that my youngest is so close to the finish line, I thought it might be time to drag the old computer out of the closet and give it a go. So after replacing said computer (apparently Windows 98 died?) I came here.

I'm a bit discouraged by how much trouble I'm having writing this introduction.

I have the overwhelming desire to say SOMETHING. I have the tools, after all- or at least I did once- but after 16 years of being at home, I honestly don't feel like I have anything to SAY. It's a strange feeling.

I would appreciate any advice or input anyone might have to offer.

    Hello J
Welcome to the jungle! I'm a new monkey, too. I saw a couple...
Oh, hey! I'm being followed, thanks for that!
so... I saw a couple of your posts (before I looked behind me) and you're doing exactly what I did, go everywhere and look at everything!
I haven't been out of the house much since 2003, so I watch EVERYTHING with a point. That would exclude network tv, reality tv... ehem, I digress.
Before internet media, it was Discovery and History and Nat Geo for me.
Get on the InterWebs and find a series about 80s 90s etc, take something you react to, and do a deep dive on that.
Get lost in it, get found, get into something else... like lightning following many paths before touching ground, and surging to one spot.
I find myself with much to say about things that aren't so recent anymore, a perspective future generations may never hold again.
