    Hello! (again?)

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by animefans12, Feb 5, 2020.

I was hunting for a place to comfortably talk about writing and, lo and behold, I ended up here... with an old account I've made back when I was a freshman in high school. (Explains the username and image choice.) I would like to think that nine years ticking by is sufficient time to reintroduce myself again, especially if there are new guidelines and protocols to follow on this forum. So... hello again!

I haven't been writing for a while since the only things I've produced lately are research papers, but I thought it would be wonderful to get back into something that I love. ;) Happy to see that this forum is still kicking!

Welcome! I'm Iain, one of the mods here. If you haven't had a chance to yet, be sure to check out New Member Quick Start and Forum Rules, and don't be shy about contacting me or one of the other mods if you have any questions or problems.

You've obviously covered our "new member" time requirement of two weeks :) as well as having twenty posts, but one thing that is new to you I believe is the Workshop's "two-for-one" requirement. Before you can post any of your original work for critique in the Workshop you'll need to make two constructive critiques of works by other members there. It doesn't matter what genre or subsection you critique in; you could be an SF writer and critique romances or historical fiction or whatever, it's just a rule we have to make sure that the Workshop stays a place where everyone can get help with their work and doesn't devolve into a showcase. Keep in mind that that two-for-one rule is an ongoing thing, for every thread you start there you're expected to make at least two critiques on someone else's. It may seem a little difficult at first to find something to critique that hasn't already been up for a while and picked to bits, but as time goes on and new stories get posted that becomes much less of a problem.

But anyway, welcome back to the Forum! I look forward to seeing you around.

Agreeing with Iain, I'd go further and say that you may find inspiration from the resolutions or a contribution you can make to the forum in general from your own fresh comments. You'll have fun, too! :)

Just like to add my own 'welcome back.' While you can't change your username, you are free to change your avatar, if you think something else would suit your 9-year-older persona better! It's a nice avatar, though.... :)
