My name is Daniel Rumanos and I reside in Baltimore, Maryland. I am author of the swashbuckling science fiction series WEIRD ADVENTURES: THE DANIEL RUMANOS FILES and have been a guest at JohnCon (The Johns Hopkins University sci-fi convention) and at Awesome Con in DC, as well as having done numerous interviews online, in print, and on television/radio/podcasts, etc. My other interests include Greco-Roman Classical studies, Medieval Literature, and Youth Rights activism. Cheers!
Hi Daniel! I'm one of the forum moderators and I would like to welcome you to the forum. You will notice that I've deleted the links in your signature however. You will be able to put these up after you have been here a little while, and your status has changed from New Member to Member. That means you need to be here 14 days and make at least 20 posts around the forum. At that point, we do allow up to two non-commercial blog links in your signature, so you may restore the link at that time, if you like. Your blog appears to be a non-commercial site—just an ongoing blog containing stories—so that will be allowed, once you're a full Member. If you are selling anything at all, including free services, however, this will not be allowed. I haven't had time to go over the blog with a fine-toothed comb, but upon first look, it seems okay. You will need to become a full Member before you can put it into your signature, however. Here is the relevant quote from our Forum Rules which covers the subject of Signatures: We have this rule to discourage members from joining up simply to promote themselves, and to protect our membership from spam and advertising. This is a non-commercial forum, although there are a few exceptions—such as the revolving list of published books written by long-term members which you will find in the upper right-hand corner of the community page. We expect our members to become active here, make many contributions to the forum, in terms of useful posts, critiques and general participation before promoting their work. In addition to the Forum Rules I would encourage you to also read New Member Quick Start which will explain quite a bit about how we operate here, and will help you get settled in. If you experience any problems getting settled, please don't hesitate to contact me via a 'conversation' ...just click my owl avatar and follow the signs ...and I'll do my best to help. Anyway, that said, I do want to welcome you here. It's great to have a new member on board who seems to be quite experienced. And sci-fi is a VERY popular genre with our membership. Your expertise will be appreciated, as you traverse the threads and jump into ongoing topics, etc. You might want to visit the Workshop area, and maybe give a few critiques to members, if you see some writing that interests you. This is always appreciated by the writers looking for feedback, and critiques are required if you want to get feedback on your own writing, as explained in both the New Member guide and the Rules, listed above. We also have short story and flash fiction and poetry contests, so feel free to enter the new ones, if you like, and also to vote in the current contests as well. Again, participation is much appreciated and you can do all that while you're still a New Member. We'd love to hear how you feel about writing in general, and what you hope to get from being a member of this forum. Is it just camaradarie from fellow writers (it's a lonely job!) or were there things you wanted to discover or learn about? Do you have any tips or advice for your fellow writers? Let us get to know you better, and have fun getting to know us as well. Cheers for now, and see you around the threads? Jan Oh, I meant to add - this link might be helpful. It's a fairly detailed site map which can link you quickly to areas of the forum you might not know exist. There is a lot under the hood. https://www.writingforums.org/faq/
