Hi, I am delighted to have found this little community and look forward to learning! I am from Australia and have 3 small children, so finding time to write can be a challenge. I have written and had published 4 non-fiction (profession specific) books and have contracts for several others, but I really want to write fiction. I write for a parenting website as well. I have had some success with short stories (a highly commended and a short-listing for two different competitions) and now want to write a novel but definitely have some self-doubt. Can't wait to sink my teeth into the forums
You'll have a head start then Which genre are you planning to write? Speaking from personal experience, academic writing is very different from fiction writing. Oh, the nuts and bolts research-wise are the same, but the words are put down a mite differently However, dig in, and have fun!
