    Hello hello!

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by Nessie, Apr 10, 2018.

    Hey everyone!

I just landed on this forum and thought I should introduce myself like the social person I am. I'm more of an aspiring writer; I've always loved writing fanfictions and fantasy stories, though I still haven't managed to write a complete story. I am planning on eventually writing a novel; I've been worldbuilding for five years now (yes, the story has changed A LOT), and my dream is to one day be able to put this story into words. My one problem is because I've been worldbuilding for so long (aside from occasional fanfics), I now have a little trouble getting to the actual writing. Something is blocking me, and I hope I manage to unstuck myself.
Anyways, apart from that, as I said I love writing fantasy/fiction, but I do read about just anything (although I will always have a weakness for YA/fantasy haha). I'm also an art student, and I love being able to draw my own characters as well as fanarts.
For now I'm just trying to get back to writing through small short stories, just to get the hang of it again. So I wanted to find a writing forum to share and get critiques/advice, and overall to participate in a writing community! (I used to be part of an RPG forum and loved it).
So yeah, I think that's about it :)

Hello there! I had the exact same problem with completing short works and this site cured me of that, for which I'm grateful.

I thoroughly recommend taking part in the monthly short story competitions as a way of forcing yourself to stick to a time limit.

Try starting a competition with no idea of what to write and belting one out. You usually get helpful and inspiring writing prompts, or you could just go with your gut instead.

It's a great way of focusing yourself.

Enjoy the site! There's a great number of excellent fantasy writers here so you'll get lots of benefit from it.

    Hey there!

We're sitting in the same boat. World building comes so easy to me but writing it all down, preferably in a coherent and conclusive fashion, is another thing entirely.
I haven't been here for long but this forum, especially the creative writing area, has already proven very helpful. Just don't be shy about asking. The writing prompts are also a good push to get you started on something.

It's also nice to hear that someone shares my love for creating artwork for their characters. I'd really like to see (and read) your stuff, if you want to show it off :)

    Welcome and have fun around!

Hi there, and welcome to the forum! And please, do participate around at your leisure! I find amazing that you write and also draw your characters - I tried to learn drawing once, but it was a mess, since I'm too impatient. Be well, and surely you'll unstuck from the spot you are with some inspiration from the good writers around. (there's even a 'Character Chatroom' around) Bye! :)
