Hello) My name is Joseph, and I'm a literature student. I've always dreamed of becoming a book critic, being the first to read everything, making corrections, and deciding whether a book should be published by our publishing house. During my studies, I delved into the study of poetry, and recently, I started writing my first poems. I would like to hear your thoughts on my poetry and receive critiques to know how to improve. Perhaps someday, I'll send my poems to the publishing house and release a whole collection. Thank you in advance.
Hi joseph, Welcome to the forum. I deleted the post you sent on mondsy ‘s introduction thread because it’s a duplicate of your intro post and you don’t need to send it again. It’s more appropriate as an intro post. Glad to have you here.
Editing is an interesting dream. I feel like most people talk about their own writing as their goal, it's the more superficially fun part most people focus on. So it's kind of refreshing to see you writing poems but with editing as a goal. The supporting cast at the publisher is valuable too!
Yeah, I like that, the idea of being an editor. Sometimes when I do critiques or judge contests, I start thinking that maybe I'd be a better editor than I am a writer. I know there are some publishers out there who will take volunteers as slush readers, so that might be a way to pick up some experience in the field. You just gotta visit a looooot of publisher websites to find 'em. If you learn of other ways to dip one's toes in it, I hope you will share with us !
