Good evening forum members, I'm Zmar, though that's not my real name. Writing is a hobby for me - one I'm not deeply experienced in, but a journey that I enjoy. I've been a member over at WF.com for about 6 months, and have seen thay a few of the contributors in that place are active in this place. So I thought I'd come and see for myself! About me: I'm the wrong side of 40 (actually, more like the right side of 50), and work in a profession where creativity is not encouraged. I live by the sea and enjoy few things better than doing not much at all - as long as it's outdoors. I've mainly been writing short stories, but do have a project or two that I hope to eventually get up to novella length, or perhaps even further than that. I look forward to getting involved and reading your creations.
I know you! Hello and welcome to .org! It's not as active here as over there but the more the merrier.
Hello and welcome, Zmar! I am another dual citizenship member. Looking forward to seeing you in the forums! The flash fiction contest (maximum 500 words) is still open to the end of the month. Maybe you can get something in? https://www.writingforums.org/threads/flash-fiction-contest-135-theme-twenty-nine.177936/
Willkommen, bienvenue! Welcome, come on in! It's nice to 'meet' you, Zmar. What genre(s) do you enjoy writing (or reading) most?
Indeed! Please have a basket of fish puns on special. (But stay awa' from t' coo beastie, she dinnae want to be bovvered right noo). Sorry, I only recently found out about them. You'll find more about coo beasties here: Secret Scotland: Where to Find Coo Beasties and Other Questions
Hi Rath, thanks for the welcome. In terms of reading, I've probably stayed in sci-fi and fantasy than anything else, although I like to mix it up a bit. My favourite author overall is probably JG Ballard. For writing, I'm having a good time at the moment dabbling across genres. Rather as a surprise to myself, I actually enjoy writing slice-of-life shorts.
I'm right down at the bottom end of 'down south' (any further south and I'd get wet) - but there's a herd of lovely highland cattle over in Hastings. I go over that way for some top notch bramble picking in late summer - always nice to see a shaggy 'coo'.
