    My intro

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by ChubbyHubs, Jul 14, 2015.

    Hello Fellow Forum Members

I joined this forum to better work the mechanics of my writing. I've read more than I've written, and as a drop out I did not really learn the technical side of writing very well. Speaking of which my favourite author is Henry David Thoreau since I relate to living a premeditated life. As an older male I'm working on a project which discusses the conflict of masculinity, age, and the identities they develop.

While I was finally able to graduate with an associates degree last year, on my third attempt. The best thing I could say about the process of graduating was the rekindling of my desire to write. Through a rich history developed by failure. I've become a great problem solver with the ability to develop unique approaches to common every day problems. For instance, when I quit smoking after thirty years I used two breathing techniques to manage my craving's, and that was in 2009 with out a relapse. Since the process is based on breathing and affirmations. I was able to share the approach with others who also succeeded in their efforts to quit.

The passion which moves my pen across the provable paper, is fueled through the knowledge that I must begin, before I'm able to learn. Through that first step I'll be able to kindle the motivation which provides me comfort in the early days of learning to control my flow. For now I strive to simply write and share those words with hope of feedback. Because I know a good story provokes a response.

You mention failure in your post. Would that more people recognized the teacher that is failure. Easy enough when one succeeds; harder still when you have to come back up from behind the eight ball.

    Thanks.

Failure is nothing more than a conversation which is telling you that the process wasn’t perfect. Writing is a skill I have found to require many failures just to find the one perfect pitch to start off with.

Thanks for saying hi, and hope to wee you around the web

Hi Chubbyhubs, welcome to the group!
Love this! It's what I do - search for the perfect tone for the story and it's so much easier.
And anyone who can quit smoking, in my bag, can accomplish anything!

Thanks Peach, but to be honest smoking, as a substance, was much easier to quit than ice cream. The hardest part of smoking is the short term. Whereas for ice cream the struggle is eternal. While that is until I took a photography class and the teacher recommended that when I saw a child drop their ice cream to take the picture. So while waiting for the perfect shadow, I seek to ponder the words, while I sit.
