Hello, I'm new here obviously. I am a 16-year-old high school student looking to enhance my writing skills and hopefully be more motivated to write more. I like to write fiction, mostly fantasy. I also write poetry. I am a huge reader and participate in a writing class outside of school. Looking forward to being here and sharing this lovely experience with you all
Pretty much when I started, and the first forum I went to was this one. Here's to the start of hopefully a long and prosperous growth in the writing community! Also, poetry is a great place to start out, I think. Gets the writer focused on what the writing is supposed to be trying to do.
Hello Jaxx. Welcome to the Forum. If you came here to enhance your skills, you've definitely found one of the best places on the Internet. Feel free to explore around. I assure you, you'll never get bored here. Feel free to share with others when you think it's time. It's a broad community, including Fantasy authors. There are a couple of stickies worth reading before posting, about general rules and so on. They ensure feedback quality, and keep 'drama' at bay (or rather confined to your work, if/when you need it, for a good cause that is). Regarding to Poetry, we never get enough poets and poems, so we look forward to both your opinions and work. You bring not just your own voice, but (hopefully) a fresh perspective. Poetry seems to me the endless playground, with all that implies. Like an open world video game perhaps, but for Literature (and story telling as well). We even have a Thread for 'Bad Poetry', check it out because some of them are priceless...
Welcome here, Jaxx! What kind of poetry do you write? I hope it's iambic pentameter. I don't "get" free verse.
