I'm a horror writer/aspiring author from WV/Ky. I grew up on the horror genre, and I can go toe to toe with anyone on Horror Trivia night. I like slowburn stuff, Creepy Pastas, Literary, and some Horror Comedy. I hope to write stories that will genuinely scare people and help them to escape the RL horrors we all deal with day to day. I've only ever been truly scared by one book ... The Exorcist ... and so I figure if I can't FIND something that scares me, I'll write the damn thing myself. I've written since I was a kid, but I'm taking it more seriously these days, and I think getting involved in a community of writers will help encourage me to improve. Outside of writing, I like video games, horror movies, anime/comics, and I wouldn't be a proper Kentuckian without including: Bourbon. Hope to make some friends and learn lots. Howdy.
I just finished watching The Exorcist, and had a bit of Ezra Brooks in my coffee as I was doing it. I think that's from your neck of the woods?* I know Evan Williams is, which is my usual jam. Unless I'm having coffee. The Exorcist is one of my favorite horror movies (never read the novel) because it's handled like a 'real' movie. As Friedkin put it in his intro, he knew he needed to make a completely realistic movie, not like other horror movies. And he did exactly that. The horror is handled as something completely inexplicable, and you're left not really knowing what was real in the end. * Yep. Checked the bottle.
Hello there, Would you be interested in writing a story for an old school adventure game? Bourbon fueled writing is a plus. White Rabbit
Ohh yeah, most bourbon is from neck of the woods. I'm partial to Woodford, Double Oaked. Great late night fuel for writing! The Exorcist movie was a great adaptation. Pretty 1:1 to the novel tbh. That feeling of being "Real" is present in the novel as well. Even the style he uses. And it translates pretty well to the screen. And Linda Blaire is legendary for her role in that one. Kinda established the whole Demonic Possession genre. But not even the movie got to me like the novel did. Had a lot of fun with both of them, though. Nice to meet ya, Xoic.
I'd certainly hear you out about it! But I'm sure there are far better writers on this website than me.
