Hello I am a beginner writer and currently a college student. This forum was recommended to me by my advisor as a way to join a community and to get feedback for my works. I lost motivation to write in the last two years when I was in a darker place and I had writer’s block, but I picked myself back up and started again last month. I seem to enjoy writing and creating more than schoolwork, so I want to continue to see if it leads me somewhere. So far, I like writing young adult, fantasy, and magical realism novels. I’m also thinking about writing songs (mainly pop songs) because I love listening to music. I hope I can grow as a writer, learn some new things, and maybe make some friends here.
Welcome! I learned a lot about writing here. If you participate and make contributions, you will learn a lot by doing so. It will take effort but hey, that goes for everything! If you're interested in feedback, we have a workshop. You can post your own work (an excerpt from your novel, flash story, etc) after you've made two critiques yourself. It might sound hard but it's really not once you get the hang of it. Just find a point you want to make about the work and expand on it with some detail. A couple of paragraphs is enough. You don't need an entire essay Critiquing others honestly benefits you a lot as well. It gets your mind to start thinking in a bit of a critical way, which is useful when you get stuck with your own stories.
Hello I'm a beginner writer. and trying to take a huge leap not only writing a fantasy novel but would love to to turn it into a 3 to 5 book series. Also being new to writing. I have lots of questions.
Welcome to the forum. Remember, if you’re submitting to the workshop, you need to critique two pieces of writing first. You could submit to the contests any time to find out if an audience will vote for your work. You could also place votes. Don’t forget to read our forum rules and please do not post spam.
