Though I have written creatively in school, and have had experience analyzing everything from plays to movies, I have just started turning my rough drafts that I write in my free time for fun into something akin to a novel.

Hey madstranger. Like you, this is the first real forums page I've joined, and recently too. Honestly, I'm not as active as I should be considering I try writing each day, so coming here and participating more frequently might help me more. And to your analyzing things such as plays and movies isn't a bad idea. There are many of both that have amazing elements to understand and find a way to adapt into another story, whether it's for a play/movie or another format of writing such as a novel.
