Cannibal attack! Missed me, but ate my favourite T-shirt!

    Hi my names Andy.

I'll start off by pointing out that the title to this thread is not actually true...It was my second favourite, and it had dinner down the front that I'd spilt earlier, so no real loss.

So about me. I'm 33, from Stockport in England, although I'm originally from London. I'm a guitarist, Singer, songwriter and home baker and until recently hadn't thought seriously about writing anything other than lyrics. My past explorations into writing generally started off with a page of introverted monologue and finished at the point my brain wandered off and did its own thing. What I did manage to write down usually made sense and quite possibly could have gone on to make a half decent story. It just never got that far.

I've decided I'm going to give it a proper go this time. I have a lot to learn and will be starting a creative writing course in September. At the moment I'm trying to get into the habit of writing everyday - which although I really enjoy the process - can take some effort when my brain refuses to fire on all cylinders (you have a lot to answer to brain!) Hopefully this isn't just me. I make my fair share of spelling and grammatical errors, but I'm sure with some time and practice I'll manage to iron those out. For me, the story comes first and the editing comes second.

I'm off now to continue my story. I'm on the 3rd page so It's already my most successful attempt, and the best thing is I'm really enjoying doing it.

So for now I will say goodnight...Goodnight!

    :D

    Welcome to Writing Forums, Andy!

I hope you find what you're looking for here, whatever your interests in writing.

This forum aims to provide the best workshopping resources on the internet, and to that end we have a few rules which you should familiarise yourself with before you get stuck in. The main section of the site is the Writing Workshop, where members can post their writing in order to receive critique of their work.

However, before we allow members to post their work, they must have met some basic requirments. Firstly, you must have been a member for fourteen days, and have made twenty posts on the forum overall (please note, posts in Word Games do not count towards this). This is so that members, when they post their work, have familiarised themselves with the forums and contributed to them (as well as hopefully learned something for themselves). Secondly, members must provide two constructive reviews of other people's work for each piece of their own that they wish to post. This is because we believe that the focus of workshopping should be equally upon giving reviews as receiving them, as they allow a writer to practice and improve their editing skills, which they can then apply to their own writing.

Beyond the Writing Workshop, you will find that we have extensive forums for discussion of aspects of writing, as well as a community area for general discussion. We also run periodic short story and poetry contests, which are good for challenging yourself and expanding your skills.

If you have any questions or problems, then the moderators (myself, Cogito, Lemex and Dante Dases) should be your first port of call. Any technical problems with the site itself should be directed to Daniel, the site administrator and owner. I would recommend you have a look over the rules so that you know what to expect, and what is expected. But aside from that, I hope you enjoy your time here.

Definitively recognize your problem :) I noticed personally that if my body get's it's required nutrients my mind is less of a nuisance, even though he occasionally whines and moans for them choco calorie bombs or gives me the, "o my I'm carrying a whole 10 grams of pen, now I'm allowed to take the elevator", excuses -.-
cheeky little bugger he is, my brain.

By the way, I'm not as dark and brooding as my avatar would suggest. I have Instaclam and its filters of doom to thank for that!
