    Hello everyone,

I am a 24 year old hobby writer (since I was 13) and I have so far only written in my mother tongue German but I have a strong desire to write in English as well. Since that is not an easy transition to make, I thought I would register at this forum and just get some inspiration, some feedback or whatever it is.

I'd love to find a writing buddy, be it in collaborating writing my first few stories in English or just discussing each others stories and giving feedback. I already got started on my endeavour by reading more English fiction, but I think I still need to read many more books in English to really become more confident. But I think writing in English is also a part of it, even if the beginnings might feel awkward and even though I might look back later thinking, wow, that was bad! :D But I mean, even in German, I was once not that good at writing fiction. So I guess it's all about practice, practice, practice.

I love the horror genre, but also drama, sci-fi, romance, slice of life (if that is a genre?). So far I have been writing a lot of fan fictions, as it is easier to base your characters off someone already existing in some way. I prefer to write males, which I find more interesting as I'm female myself. I would love to figure out how to write males in a convincing manner and really think and write from the view of a man. I find this switching and shifting of roles super fascinating.

I'm excited to meet you all, read about your stories and start my journey to fulfil my goal of writing an English novel one day.

Your English is good, but I could see a bit of the German creeping in, in little ways. Mostly phrasing and structure. Don't be discouraged by that, English is not an easy language even for native speakers at times.

I might suggest, looking for an American base in your area, most have a German/American club. These clubs are specifically designed to help both improve their abilities with the other language. I remember the club we had in Hanau, back in the late 80s. It really helped my German, which sadly has mostly been forgotten over the years.

Best of luck, and write some critics in the workshop so you can post some of your work for us.
