    Here I am

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by Nellie Mea Dixon, Feb 21, 2020.

    Hello Writing Forums!

Looking for like minds. I have been writing Fantasy as a hobby since middle school. My passion is to write a fantasy story that includes rich characters, naughty bits, deep lore and world building with a few new ideas splashed in there. I hope my current WIP is just that.

I will post excerpts when I earn my way in to the Workshop.

    Thanks :superagree:

Hi Nellie - We've already interacted a bit in a conversation, and I think I said 'welcome to the forum' there. And you've obviously made yourself familiar with our New Member Quick Start as you know about the Workshop requirements. And I assume you might also have had time to read our Forum Rules ....but here is the link in case you haven't. Good idea to become familiar with them, although they will be undergoing some revisions soon ...mostly just to bring things more up-to-date (no major changes in the offing.)

I'm including another few links you might find helpful as well.

https://www.writingforums.org/faq/ - this is an interactive site map, containing links to all areas of the forum

https://www.writingforums.org/threads/constructive-critiques.20627/ - this will give you an idea of what we mean by 'critique'

https://www.writingforums.org/writing-contests/ - and here is where the fun can begin. You are encouraged to visit, read, and ultimately vote in all the monthly contests (the entrants really appreciate this.) And here's the even better news. As a brand-new member you can enter the current contests as well. (I think they are all prompted this time, but they aren't always.) If you can think of a way to write a story or a poem using the current prompts, feel free to enter. Your entries are anonymized until after the contest is over - and then who wrote what is revealed. It's fun, and it will give you a good way 'in,' and a way to show us your writing skills, if they happen to coincide with the form and prompts for each contest.

Even if you don't want to enter the contests, we do appreciate the votes!

Anyway, if you have any trouble getting settled, don't hesitate to contact me via a conversation (just click my avatar and follow the signs) and I'll do my best to help.

Look forward to seeing you on the threads, and to eventually see your stuff in the Workshop.

    Cheers,
    Jan

    Hi Nellie Mea Dixon.

The contests can be entered right away whereas the workshop you have to wait a while. Feedback is appreciated anywhere.

A warm welcome to the forum.
