Hey errybody. I figured I'd give joining a -special interest group- a shot. I haven't really been part of an online community in awhile, so I figured getting social again would do me some good. The type of writing I primarily do is probably quite a bit different than what you guys/gals/stuff in-between do, but there isn't really a place for amateur technical writers, so hey, I'll work it in somehow. My tasking also requires a lot of creative writing based on possible future-history, so that'll be easier. Aside from what I write, I'm just some guy-kid from California. By day I put people in suits, by night I create interactive universes and play with my cats. I like loud, angry music and video games that might as well be books (300,000 lines of dialog? YES). I also do the photo thing. Taking a long break from it, but I'm looking to start up again. Throw me some good anime too; I'll eat it up. So yeah, I hope to make some friends and learn a lot.
Video games with 300,000 lines of dialogue? You're referring to RPG (role playing games) like Skyrim and Dragon Age, correct? "By day I put people in suits..." - are you a tailor or do you sell clothes? Oh! Welcome to the forums. I'm new as well. It's really informative in here and the couple of times I've asked for assistance (so far) people have been helpful. I've passed some stuff on in the research forum mainly like for sign language or how one shows poverty in a farming community. See ya around!
RPGs more along the lines of Baldur's Gate and (especially) Planescape: Torment. They used the AD&D 2nd Edition rule set, and actually play like a game of D&D. A more current example would be Pillars of Eternity. All highly recommended for bookworms. Yep, I sell mid-range menswear. It's been a very good learning experience. I was pretty poor with social interaction. This job is fixing that. Oh yea, I think I saw something about showing poverty in a farming community. I'll give it a read when I get home. When I get to that level, I kinda want to see if I can start something with technical writing, which is something I can find absolutely zero help with. Yep see ya.
Playing through the old IcewindDale right now. Have to respect the old brutality of D&D rulesets. Forgotten Realms games are great. I too like the heavy dialog/story based games, though I have little time to play them nowadays. I look forward to seeing your work on here for review, and I truly hope to see you giving many critiques for others. It's the back bone of why we are all here, and solid criticism and contribution builds your own works as well as theirs. See you around.
