Hi all! My name is vyhurz. I've been struggling with writing for quite some time. In 2017 I finished my BA in English/Creative Writing, and about a year later my mother passed away. Since that time, I have not written much at all. Bits and pieces here and there. But I so enjoyed telling stories and writing things since I was a child. My grandmother gave me a typewriter when I was 10 or 12. And every day I think about writing, but I don't do it. I also don't have any ideas for a story. Sure, I have folders full of old stories and ideas, but starting seems to be the hardest part. I want to just create something. I hope to take part in the contests here since I think those will inspire me. I'm 35, nonbinary, and queer. I just moved in with my partner this past week. We've been together for 5 years. Previously I lived with my sister and we're very close. I work in a university in the registrar's office. I love my job because it's like constant organization which calms me, but I also get to interact with students in a positive way. I like video games (mostly RPGs on my PS5) and some graphic design. Reading, similar to writing, has been difficult these past several years, though I'm currently reading 4 books. I'm very happy to have found this forum since it seems to be the kind of thing that would work for me, that would inspire me. I hope to get along with you all!
Hi! Rogue Protocol by Martha Wells (#3 in the Murderbot series) Sitting Pretty by Rebekah Taussig (listening to the audiobook) The Salt Grows Heavy by Cassandra Khaw Opinions by Roxane Gay All of them are going very slowly!
Yeah, that tends to happen when you have four going at the same time. Trust me, I do it way too much and often I end up not finishing any of them (depending on how good they are). Nice to have you here among us! Any chance we could get a pronunciation guide for your username? Mine is prononuced like Zo-ick (rhymes with Go pick), and is a variation on Stoic.
Thanks very much! Sure, it's pronounced like vie-hers. I kind of did a keyboard smash one day when looking for a new username and liked how this one came out. Since then, it's felt like a name/username/identity that's all mine, at least online.
