    Hello!

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by Amieine, Mar 16, 2022.

Hello! My name is Amieine. I've picked up writing again after so many months. I have done writing classes in both high school and college, so I have a moderate amount of experience.
My genre of interest would have to be historical fiction. Naoki's Urasawa's "Monster" is what got me into that kind of genre. I like it when characters are explored through historical settings as there are a lot of creative limitations to work around. Or, you could just skew the past to cheat those limitations.

I hope to learn a lot!

I find in most writing that imposed limitations lead to a more quality work. The limitations force you to work within bounds that keep you from straying into uncharacteristic problems or logical fallacies. Sometimes they even keep you within the boundaries of genre.

This is why I love writing poetry so much. There is a certain necessity in setting limitations, free verse and restricted all the same. For poetry to keep a sense of roundedness, it needs to work within a self-imposed set of rules. The fun can sometimes be in making these rules.

    Welcome!
