CoyoteKing brought me here. I've been doing so good with my resolution to cut back on social media that I decided to celebrate by joining a new forum. It's gonna be great! Here's some stuff about me: -I mostly write secondary-world fantasy, but I've been known to churn out a contemporary from time to time. My books are typically dramedy with elements of horror and romance. Current WIP is the sequel to one such fantasy novel. It's been going amazingly well, but after I finish the scene I'm in the middle of I have no idea what happens next. Oops. -Writing strengths... ??? I suppose the thing I get complimented on most consistently, even by people who otherwise don't care for my work, is worldbuilding. Or is that just a throwaway compliment people give when they don't know what else to say? I do LOVE worldbuilding, though. I love history and language and religion and maps and and -Weaknesses: The one that holds me back the most is probably commitment. After about 4-5 rounds of revision I get so sick of a book that I never want to touch it again... and often, I never do. -My favorite type of scenes to write are first meetings between major characters, dramatic rescues, and scary parts. I get really stuck/confused when I try to write fight scenes, and when I try to write sex scenes I panic and fade to black. -I had an agent once, but despite his valiant efforts, he was unable to sell either of the books he shopped for me. Then he retired. Now I'm not saying I drove him to retirement....... -I'm a schoolteacher by day. If I wanted to write middle grade, I'd have boatloads of material. But I don't really want to, woe. I also don't want to be a teacher forever, but you know, bills. -I spend my non-writing-non-working time reading, trying to be healthy (e.g. exercising and cooking), practicing whatever language I'm studying at the moment, and sitting sadly on the couch doing nothing because the browser extensions I installed to keep myself off social media kicked in and blocked me.
