I'm new here. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. My day job as an engineer affords me a little bit of free time to dabble, but it can seem oppressive. Sometimes I get creative ideas when I'm at work then forget them by the time I'm home. I try to write a little where and when I can. I took some vacation time to focus on writing, so here I am! I just hammered out an 8-page short story and I'm just dying to get feedback. I bought a premium membership to try to speed up the feedback process. I will look now for some work I can leave feedback on. I'm interested in honing the craft and learning more about how people structure their plots and character development arcs. I sometimes fly by the seat of my pants, personally. Another thing I'd like to learn to do is learn to write female characters better! Mine sometimes come out flat, or stereotypical kick-a** female written by a guy. That's it for now. That's me in a nutshell.
If you want to get better at writing, you're in the right place. Don't think of reading reading and critiquing other people's work as a chore. It can be as instructive as - and sometimes even more useful than - having others consider your work. And, to course, you can always ask for help with specific problems. One of the things I've found valuable at this site is the resource threads. There's a ton of information available. Go, browse. Have fun! make friends. Be helpful.
