Anyone know of any good plot templates?

Discussion in 'Plot Development' started by LimitlessLiterature, May 31, 2015.

Whenever I want to start working on a new story I find it helpful to have a printable plot/character/setting template to work off of to make sure I cover everything before I start writing. Anyone know of any good and thorough ones out there that are free/downloadable? Any suggestions/links are much appreciated. Thanks :)

I personally love the "A Novel Idea" app. Though it isn't a strict, pen and paper, template it allows me to organize my thoughts and ideas into a usable format.

I second the "A Novel Idea" app! I don't do a lot of actual writing in it, but when I'm out and about I'll often jot down notes in its various categories which I can look to down the road.

Yup! I started using is strictly to help construct a novel - now I find I can use it for nearly everything.

I don't know about templates but in terms of really basic story structure you can look up three basic models (which have a lot of overlap): Three-Act Structure, Seven Point Structure, and the Hollywood Formula. Those at least tell you when you need certain types of action.
