Hi, I recently turned to the grand age of 34 and my better half is demanding to know what she can buy me for my birthday. I was wondering if anyone could recomend any writing publications I could get a subscription to? Anyone got any recomendations? Cheers - Ian
I'm not sure what's available in the UK without paying extra postage (for a US publication), but I like both The Writer and Writer's Digest. If I had to pick just one it would probably be The Writer. If you happen to write screenplays, Scripts would be a good choice. An alternate would be a good book for your birthday. It wouldn't have to be a "how to" book on writing, it could be a biography of one of your favorite writers, or some subject related to writing (for example, if you're a crime writer, a book on forensics).
Ian My main recommendation is that you learn to spell recommendation! Seriously though, apart from those already mentioned, you could try "Self Publishing Magazine" which comes out a few times every year. It's full of good articles and advice if you want to go down the self publishing route in the UK, and my own first novel had a really great review in there last year.
