    Formatting?

Discussion in 'Support & Feedback' started by mwr, Jun 29, 2022.

Hi folks. I'm new here and I have a question about formatting:

I've noticed that in the threads, people's writing almost never has indents leading paragraphs and there's usually a space between each paragraph. Personally, I'm finding this very distracting as I try to read user's work. Is there no way to code proper formatting? This is a writing forum after all. Or maybe this is just a limitation with forums in general that I've never noticed before?

If anyone knows a way of posting with proper formatting, then at last I can do this for when I post any of my own stuff :)

    Thanks.

You can format your posts however you like. There's an indent button on the tool bar to the left of the smiley face.

    Like this.
    Or twice like this.
    Or thrice like this.
However, the no-dent, double space between paragraphs is fairly standard for digitized writing like emails, forums, online articles, etc. Virtually every online article is formatted this way now, like the New York Times or whatever. That's how people write online, so suggesting it as not "proper" is incorrect. About the only medium that still indents is regular print formatting, which you are more than welcome to do. But it might look weird, as the times are a-changing.
