    • What does the antagonist intend to do with this thing, and why doesn't he just wait until the boffin has perfected it and made it safe?

    Actually 'never mound' was a personal joke between myself and a dear friend of mine, back in the states. I've never heard anybody else use it. It was his play on 'find/found,' 'grind/ground,' etc. He did know how to make me laugh. And some things stick over nearly 45 years.
