Hello. In my story, a man wants to tell a woman he finds the sound of her laughter very pleasant, in a witty way. This is what I could think of: "The sound of her laughter is music to my ears." It's a cliche. Do you have other suggestions?
"The ringing of her laughter sounds like a melody." Sorry, I couldn't help myself. Let's get hopelessly romantic and seriously cheesy: "Her angelic laughter is tickling my heart." "The sweet sound of her laughter can penetrate any cold room like a warm ray of light." "Her laughter wraps around my mind like a silken ribbon." "The sound of her laughter is the "special" before the "K"." "The sound of her laughter is the best dream that I woke up in." I could go on forever. Just be creative.
It was the funniest thing all day. I hope nobody here would judge me. Without context, what I have asked for might come across as cheesy and trashy and corny.
"I listened to her laughter like a fanatic listens to Kpop." "I could hear her laughter all day and not get tired of it." "I couldn't help myself; I told my dumbest, cheesiest joke, desperate to hear her laugh. When she did, I grinned as hard as I could -- but I didn't laugh with her. I couldn't dilute her musical voice with my own, prosaic one."
Narrative or dialogue? 'You have a voice that songbirds would envy'? Something along those lines? I'll give it more thought. Ironic? Outright funny? Cute?
"I love the way you laugh," he said, looking bashfully at her and then at the ground. He meant it. It was a girl's laugh--natural and unrestrained, in no way forced. "My grandfather had this old set of wind chimes on his porch that would play a jingly little tune when the breeze blew just right. That's what your laugh reminds me of. Pretty. Light." He blushed, embarrassed by his sudden bravado. The girl looked at him, her mouth hanging open. "That is the most beautiful thing anyone has ever said to me," she whispered, reaching out and giving his hand a gentle squeeze.
