It should be easy but..... I have been banging my head against the wall here formatting my memoir manuscript for submission. I have created a cover/title page with no page number, and in my draft on-screen Page one is numered with my header as Page "1." Then when I sent sample to myself, that number "1" had miraculously turned into the nuber "2." I can't submit a manuscript with the number "2" on page 1. Do you have any advice please? I have already used the "Different Page" path in formatting
To be clear, you’ve already tried this? https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/start-page-numbering-later-in-your-document-c73e3d55-d722-4bd0-886e-0b0bd0eb3f02
Yes. Doesn't work. I have my fis tpage (the Cover/Title page) non-numbered. the on the next page my "1" appears where I want it on my draft document on my computer screen, and then when I send it to myself via email to test that it has worked, it is replaced with a "2."
And this is on the same device? Because sometimes, if you use a different device (especially one without Word), header formatting gets screwed to Hell. Otherwise, try creating sections in the document. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/customize-page-numbers-and-their-formats-in-different-word-document-sections-bb4da2bd-1597-4b0c-9e91-620615ed8c05
