I publish on a few sites that pay per eyeball, and I've sworn off social media (for reasons that I won't bore you with,) so I feel that I can't contribute much in the way of providing those eyeballs. But there is one thing I can do... I host a weekly radio show, and I always post playlists online. I always include a link to my work in each post. I've always thought of Tumblr as the website for getting anything onto the Internet for people to see, and it works well. I can use tags for each song and artist, and every post gets a bunch of likes and one or two follows, but I last used Tumblr in my 20s, and at 40, it just doesn't feel like a place for adults. Plus, I don't think there's much clickthrough. So, what alternatives are there? It would have to... have similar functionality to Tumblr, with the ability to post practically anything I like. A community of people who are browsing for tagged content, so that they can stumble on my posts. A more mature and serious community than Tumblr. I was thinking Medium, but I thought they might want content that's a little more sophisticated than a list. Looking over Medium, I see a lot of content that's no more sophisticated than my playlists. But I don't know what the community is like on Medium, in my experience, places like that are full of content creators looking for attention, but unwilling to follow other creators. Or can you think of any other sites I might find useful? I always say that trying to do those sort of thing without social media is a little like trying to sing without a mouth, but there has to be a way. I did try a Substack, but I ended up leveraging every email address I had, and I think it was just going to Spam. And there didn't seem to be any function for being discovered. I think that's the most important part, tagged posts that people can stumble on, and a community of people looking for content.
