Hello you guys, I'm running across a problem with the plot line of the new story I'm wanting t write called "Praising The Good". It's basically about a woman who is an extremely negative person and gets a huge wake up call when her latest rampage of negative thinking aggravates her Coronary Artery Disease condition ends up in a heart attack and she is forced to take a long hard look at her life and how she needs to change when she meets a former best friend who was a very positive influence in her life and is basically responsible for her getting on the right track to being positive again in her life. But then just when she starts feeling positive, a fellow jealous male patient catches wind of this and tries to destroy her cause he feels like crap about his own life but at the end of my story typically good wins against evil and this sounds to me like a run of the mill story that's been told a million times before. I was wondering if you guys would agree with this and if so, how could I make it more origional and compelling. If anyone could help me on this matter I'd greatly appreciate it!. Thanks and have a great day!
It’s all in the execution. It was Hemingway who said that there were only 7 basic stories … we can probably add another couple to that but the fact remains that nearly everything has been done before… what matters is how well you write it
I can already relate to several characters in this story from personal experience. I think it's less about how the story ends and more about the journey that these characters will take. Will they all learn something as a result of which they will decide to change? What can make a jealous patient who attacks others due to having an empty life turn a corner? What experiences will transform him? I'm more interested in that than who wins in the end. And there are many opportunities for you to tell an interesting story just with these basic ingredients.
