Can't find an exact translation because of the word "badass," but writing a satirical karate commentary, and wanting to try to get an accurate translation of this.
I thought about asking on reddit on r/japanese, but I figured people wouldn't be receptive to my question. But I want to get as accurate of a translation as I can, especially the "badass" part. In context, it's something like this: LI KSHOO OOO I've come to invite you to the *Japanese for Tournament of Really Badass Karate Champion Guys*. Johnny snatches the flyer from him with his signature Paper Snatch From Hand move. JOHNNY The Tournament of Really Badass Karate Champion Guys?! I thought that was just a myth? -------------- I want someone who actually knows Japanese to be able to understand Li's words, and not blink twice at Johnny's translation of it. As a side note, does that name sounds like "lick shoe, ew" to you? That's the goal, but not sure how people are reading it, lol.
It may be a bit rough, being run through a translator. 「本当に悪い空手チャンピオンの男たちのトーナメント」 " hontouni warui karate champion no otoko tachi no tounament "
I do. And I would translate that back to English as "It really is the tournament for bad karate champion men", although it would be missing "desu" on the end. It *looks* like something that's been created by a translator.
真のすごい空手のチャンピオンの大会だ！ shin no sugoi karate no chanpion no taikai da! That, however, is a description, not a title. A tournament wouldn't be called something like that, it would be far more poetic. Like, I dunno: 真百万拳の勝負 shin hyakuman ken no shoubu (True Million Fists Contest) You can't find a word for badass because there is no equivalent, not as far as I know. "warui" just means "bad". Then again, if it's satire, go ahead and call it that. You see badly translated Engrish all the time, why not have some badly translated Japanlish?
