    Mention my age or not?

Discussion in 'Traditional Publishing' started by EHoff, Feb 12, 2014.

Is it a good idea to mention that I'm only 16 in a query letter or should I wait until I (God willing) get a request for a full or partial? I would think it would either be a really big turn off (Oh, this writer isnt mature or even of legal age!) or a turn on (Hey! A teen author! We could get some publicity out of this!) While I suspect it would be the latter, I'm not entirely sure. What do you think?

Don't mention your age. Your manuscript will speak for itself. However, you may need an adult to sign the contract at a later stage.

I wouldn't. If your age is in the query, agents might not even read your pages.

Don't do that, and most certainly don't use Jack M. Ehoff as your pen name.
