Hi. I'm a 17 year old (almost 18 year old; in two months) and I submitted a poem to a literary magazine and it got accepted. This is the first time this has ever happened and I don't know what to do. It was simul so am I supposed to withdraw from all the other magazines? And am I supposed to tell them I'm 17 because of legal issues? Thank you.
You won't have to mention your age. Let the other magazines you submitted to know that the poem has been accepted elsewhere. Congratulations and keep on writing!
well, it all depends on a lot of factors. >Did you submit for the inclusion in their forthcoming issue? or was it for the competition? >Did the mention anything about age in their submission guidelines? >What magazine was that? Besides, if it was a simultaneous submission, generally, it's a thumb rule of all the submission guidelines that if you're accepted to any one of the zines, you MUST withdraw or atleast inform the others about it.
say 'thank you!' and celebrate your success... as for the other issues: yes, you must withdraw your submission from all other venues... if the legal age where you are is 18 and you have to sign a contract, have a parent/legal guardian sign it for you... congratulations!... what magazine will it be in and what's the title of the piece?... will it be a paid credit?
