I have an idea for a character and I just don't know how to name him (name+surname). His current name is Jake Mercer, but I am not sure if it has a nice ring to it. He is an american, mercenary, modern ninja. I just need some epic sounding name. Oh, forgot to mention he is a superhero. I know it's a pretty vague description, but I am counting on you!
Where are you in your book and does the name matter at this second? You have a placement name, so you can still write. Unless you're done with your book I'd suggest keep writing it and the name will probably come to you. Or google "totally awesome ninja-superhero name" and see what comes up, I guess.
Most superheros have name and surname combinations that start with the same letter or a similarly-sounding letter. Also names that end with a letter and surnames that start with the same. Examples: Wade Winston Wilson Jonn Jonzz (Also Martian Manhunter) Bruce Banner Clark Kent Peter Parker Tony Stark (I know this is not the case, but the 's' blends with Tony and the 't' in Stark sounds stronger) Frank Castle Wonder Woman Doctor Doom (a.k.a. Victor Von Doom, I mean, really?) Lex Luthor Stephen Strange Matt Murdock Hal Jordan And the craziest one: John Jonah Jameson, Jr. I'm missing a ton, of course. There you have it. Your character should be named Dr. Danny Darius Dalton. Just give him some weird degree and you are all set!
Jeffery Jackson, that just makes the most sense for some reason. Don't know why but Jeffery just speaks to me. So he needs to be a Jeff or a Jeffery. This I am certain of.
Isn't that trend mainly because Stan Lee is bad with names and having the first and last name Begining with the same letter made it easier to remember? Most superhero with real names that lines up like that are from Marvel.
Most are from Marvel, I suppose. However, the fact that they are easy to remember is a good thing. I'm pretty sure they are easy to remember because they have a nice ring to them. They are like a song or a poem. They just sound right and make more sense.
