    Character Mood Boards and Sketches

Discussion in 'Character Development' started by Harmonices, Jan 26, 2019.

Does anyone else do this - example below.

I'm pulling together 'mood boards' for my characters, and using those to begin sketching them out (ultimately with a view to creating painted portraits for them - or at least that's the plan). As my current project isn't human based, these include photos of animals, furs, scales, eyes, that suit the idea I have of my characters, to help flesh them out and which I can draw from when writing them. It was just a thing I decided to come up with - don't know if it's recommended anywhere. Is it something else others here do?

I don't do that, but I think it's a great idea! How did you create yours?

Just a Word doc. and Google searches for images using relevant key words/phrases. When you see images that look right, just copy and paste them to the document.

For the above I used search terms like: "small upright dinosaur" "pink crystal" "pink snake" "long faced cat" "alien eyes" "white bat".
(then converted it into a JPG for Wordpress).

I know what I'm going to be doing for the rest of the day. Bye bye world..
