Spitfires are lovely planes. As a yank I feel beholden to admire the more aggressive, bullish look of a P-51 B Mustang (never liked the bubble canopied models), but there’s something to be said for the more graceful, avian lines of a Spitfire. Yes, lovely planes.

We watched Dunkirk last night too :)

I've always been partial to the Luftwaffe planes as well though. It was a beautiful era all round, but tthe sheer aggression of the Stuka, coupled with that siren that has been misused ever since...

And if you show me one too many pictures of the ME-262, well, I'll need a little privacy...

And the F-4 Corsair... The "inverted gull wings" were put there to allow for a huge propeller; with straight wings it would have had less power and speed. The plane was all engine (cue a mix of Tim Allen and Jeremy Clarkson talking about POWER)

For me it’s all about this little girl. This one’s a model C. The leading edge of the tail has a sharper angle where it meets the fuselage.

Tuskegee Airmen. Is that what you remember?

As for the shape... well... my appreciation for little round roughy roughy bears is no secret. :bigwink:

I half want to share a bizarre video I find hilarious to someone I'm only just getting to know.

    I half suspsect I shouldn't `cause there's a high likelihood I'll scare `im off.

But then again, it feels like a good test to whether we should be friends at all.

    Choices.

They say honesty is the best policy. But some people can't handle the truth
about you. That doesn't mean you are wrong, it just means they fail to understand
that you are not something that can be molded into their standard of idealized
partnership. So if they reject you over something so trivial, then they aren't
what you need in your life. Simple as that. :)

But you guys, I like having Galahads and darling little ingénues for friends.

I've only two left, and I've sadly been tainting one of them for the past six years.

Edit: I mean this as someone who themselves is often considered naive & innocent by common standards, so these are those beautifully rare epitomes of Galahad & ingenue archetypes.

A virtue can become a vice. A gentleman knows when to be rude.

Or since you seem to like Oscar Wilde, "A gentleman is one who is never unintentionally rude."

Probably explains why I don't have any friends. It is a lonely life of
things like art, and watching the world assimilate into something
unrecognizable. Also being an atheist doesn't help much either.

"He has all the virtues I disdain and none of the vices I admire."

Or something like that I believe was said by Churchill.

I am rather fond of people who share my favourite brand of flaws, but those few who are legitimately sweetly innocent & naive give me a special kind of pleasure.

But I tend to either scare them away or they inevitably get more world wise with time.

The former is very unfortunate, and the latter is a good thing. From a little research and my personal experience, it is my opinion that naive and innocent people are easily taken advantage of, and - perhaps in the same vein - have difficulty standing up for themselves.

    You gotta' incorporate that shadow!

On the other hand though, the joy of being around a little kid is that they see the world with pure wonder, in all its glorious beauty. They see things for the first time. Brand new. It's invigorating and restorative. I just find it unattractive in adults.

If you see something flying that you can't explain it is an Unidentified Flying Witch (UFW).
This applies to a strange person on foot that you can't explain, it is a UWW. :superlaugh:
Witches man, they be odd. :p

If there's a strange person asleep in your bed, it's an Unidentified Sleeping Witch In My Bed (USWIMB). Or maybe Goldilocks. Or maybe Robert Downey, Jr.

    Draw your own conclusions.
