I was fine with neither of those options being a thing.

A dude I don’t know sent me a private message and like all the other people I don’t know sending me unsolicited messages, I was about to block and ignore

But he pointed out something astutely accurate about my interests and asked me an intriguing question on a topic I would be more than excited to have a conversation on.

So after a bit of deliberating, I finally type back a thoughtful response, giving further insight into my opinion and opening up room for him to share his and further discussion.

He read and then just responded, “whacha doin tonight?”

    And I stopped.

    Darn they’re getting tricksy.

Fuck those guys. They make everyone so defensive to talk to at first. Firmly believe they are the root of growing general distrust.

Koalas are one of the greatest examples of the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" rule in nature. Have some rather strange and questionably sensible features all because they ended up specialising in something that doesn't make that much sense to do. But that is how nature do. The fact it was so unattractive a specialisation meant it was open for a specialist and having a unique niche is legit advantageous. So we have these retarded possum bears with smooth brains that eat toxic leaves, develop their immunity via shit, somehow sound like terrifying wild boars when they wanna bang and have a rampant epidemic of clamydia. God bless 'straya. *single patriotic tear*.

Better, but it typically still gets there.

Not on this site. I’ve received a few interesting messages before, but nothing truly inappropriate or out of bounds. Mostly my DMs are members being super supportive & kind and don’t want to hog a thread being so or else to ensure all other members don’t know they’re secretly the best.

Lucky you. I get quite a few questionable DMs on this site. I politely send them on their way. Had to change my profile picture because of it.

Mod hat on here. Seriously. If this happens again on the forum, report it. It doesn't mean we're necessarily going to ban anybody, but we'll certainly keep an eye on them. We'll be guided by your wishes on the matter as well—because people can make a mistake. BUT...you should NOT have to change your profile pic because of what somebody does to you, here on the forum. Or put up with any attention that makes you uncomfortable.

Folks who do that to you may well be doing it to others, too. We won't see a pattern unless these incidents get reported.

You are also free to include any or all of the active mods in any PM that makes you uncomfortable. We do not tolerate stalking or harrassment here on the forum.

To be fair, the borderline messages came when I did have some photo of me as my profile pic and I’ve had Pre-Raphaelite Paintings for some time now.

Yes, ma’am. Understood and will do.

So they’re remaking Tank Girl (Margot Robbie’s production company developing it but she hasn’t technically signed on to star).

Which means this absurdly ridiculous comic & characters are going to get a lot of attention all of a sudden.

Of course I hear the announcement after I had started preparing to gather up a Jet Girl costume for Halloween. . .

Welp, I’m gotta scrap that now. Back to the drawing board of obscure characters with easy costumes I can get away with dressing up as.

The guy in the Indian just now found it very amusing when I told him I’d be back to pick up my order in seven minutes. He said I sounded like a German.

So am I the only one (non German) who guestimates to the nearest minute then?

ETA: I failed miserably anyway. It took me eight.

I worked 9-1-1 for a while, and times are very, very important there. Took me decades (and I'm still not completely over it) to stop answering questions like "What time is it?" with "About [0609]."

Interesting, they shouldn't be able to make those noises. Small animals aren't usually capable of such low frequencies, researchers compared the noises to elephants. But they found recently they have a second pair of vocal chords folded behind the others. Presumably evolved because low frequencies travel more clearly over long distances and so the mating call is better to communicate with a female across a crowded eucalypt forest. They can even turn it on and off. Their other noises are very high pitched and whiny. Koalas are very strange.
