    Abuse of Quotes?

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Ms. DiAnonyma, Jun 9, 2015.

I read an article the other day that reminded me of this... The author was saying something about a musician truly holding to the "to thine own self be true" motto- and sounded as if they thought it was a great way to express that. I do believe in originality of musical interpretation, but it did strike me as funny that pompous Polonius' quote from Hamlet should be taken so seriously. Have you found similar uses of quotes? (Things do get quoted out of context all the time, it seems. And then there's misattribution of quotes...).
