Hello writing community. I've been writing all my life and never thought to get e-involved in the one area I feel true passion. I've made a few posts already and have looked around; this group looks to be exactly what I'm looking for in a writer's community. There seem to be quite a few intelligent, creative, and well-versed individuals of varying skill levels filling the ranks here, and it will be nice having a place to discuss topics and share/read works. I'm thirty-three years old, married, never been published, never sent anything out. I've been writing stories since I was five, and grew up thinking -- knowing -- that I would be a writer someday. A published writer, to amend, but that doesn't happen unless you put yourself out there. It's easy to make excuses why I don't submit my work or reach out to my fellow writing community, but there comes a time when you just need to do it. I mainly write fiction (surreal/horror/sci-fi/fantasy), but also have written reams of poetry and am now experimenting with a new format where I'm combining poetry and prose, with varying results. I can't wait to immerse myself in this place, you guys seem (to borrow some millennial-speak) "woke."
