    Walk The Wire

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by JessWrite, Jun 16, 2012.

Are any of you all watching Walk The Wire happening now on ABC? A man named Nik Wallenda is walking over the Niagara Falls on a tight rope! Ahhh, I can barely watch!

total waste of air time... and the airheads they had doing a constant patter of idiotic overemoting were downright embarassing to watch/hear... i caught a bit while changing channels and couldn't believe a network would treat it like the rose parade, for bleep's sake!

It did take guts on his part, though. I wouldn't even get NEAR a waterfall, much less do what he did.

Don't even know what that show is. Doesn't interest me anyway.

Not a show. A stunt, by a descendent of the Flying Wallendas. He walked across Niagra Falls from the US to Canada on a two-inch diameter steel cable.

Oh it was a stunt? Two inch diameter steel cable? Sounds like a modern Evel Knievel to me.

The most anti-climactic thing I've ever watched...

Yes, very much like that, I think. This is someone from a family who have been performing such stunts for 250 years.

Fascinating, in a way, and a true celebration of dedication to see someone successfully achieving, through pure skill, training, discipline and concentration, something which had been a lifelong ambition since the age of 6. Pretty difficult not to admire that, whether or not one would wish to do it oneself? I only wish I were so "driven".

And in crossing from the US to the Canadian side, he had his passport on him, too. (Well, it would have been pretty inconvenient to be denied admission to Canada and have to go back the same way?!).
