    Hello there

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by Plucko, Jan 9, 2008.

    Hello,

My name is Nanda and I stumbled across this website when I visited Google in search for a good writing forum. I decided to register.

Although the stories I write are mainly in Dutch (since it's my first language), I occasionally write in English (my grammar probably isn't as good as it is in Dutch).

My reason for joining these forums is because I love forums where I can share my interests with others and I'd love to read tips to improve my writing skills.

    - Nanda

Hi Nanda, welcome to the forums, I hope I'll be able to see some of your work sometime. Feel free to message one of the mods if you need help with anything. I hope you enjoy it here :)

Hello Nanda, Welcome to the Writing Forums.

If your introductory post is any indication, your English grammar is in fine shape.

If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well!

As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information.

Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!

Welcome! One of the best ways to improve in any language is just to read, so you've come to the right place!
