Suggestion Poetry section for general/academic discussion

Discussion in 'Support & Feedback' started by OurJud, Apr 25, 2017.

It would be really useful if a forum for general poetry discussion was added to the poetry section, as I believe any threads on the subject in the General Writing section would be very quickly buried beneath fiction writing chat.

Seconded. I don't write poetry, but I can see the value.

Thirded. There seems to be enough interest in poetry to justify it.

I'd like to amend this to academic discussions as a whole. There are essays written both of prose and poetry that goes well into depth on subjects that get little attention on this forum (Subtext, Symbolism, Theme, Staging, Meter, Sound devices, etc.)

I think it would be a great idea to have a forum that has discussions on the academic topics of writing for both prose and poetry.

But isn't this what the General Writing forum is for?

My wish is that us budding poets had somewhere to discuss technical aspects, specific to poetry.
