Looking for a tagline, what tagline do you think fits this plot?

Discussion in 'Setting Development' started by Virallad, Jul 20, 2017.

I have a novel that went through copyright and now it's successfully authorised to be published, but my publisher is suggesting to add a tagline on the cover. And I cant think of any

Leaving out the major details, the plot is about medical team including paramedics, nurses, doctors and scientist in a hospital are trying to figure out why patient are dying with exact similar manner (the plot has no plague, serial killer, or outbreak or zombie setting at all). So its a rather them medical mysteries we see in Discovery Science and stuff. And focuses how the medical team are working together to solve this new unnamed disease

So far the title i thought off are

    Triage

    Asystole

But i am stuck with the tagline, any tips

Is this a vanity press 'publication'?

Who is the publisher? I'm surprised they would be asking you to come up with something like this - my understanding is that usually traditional publishers will take responsibility for the blurb and a tagline (if necessary).

Publishers job differ from country to country, the way you are describing is the western/European publishers. In Asia and middle east the publishers have no input in your work, as long as its not plagiarised in any sense or politically driven if you are not qualified for it

    any tagline idea?

If you offer suggestions for taglines we could tell you whether we find them intriguing or not. But it's pretty hard for us to come up with anything really compelling when we haven't read the book. All we could manage at this point would be something totally generic and open-ended, which probably isn't what you're looking for.

I'm confused about why an Asian/Middle east publisher is publishing in English

That aside Bay nailed it we can't possibly come up with taglines without a lot more plot detail

    A starting place:

Patients are dying of a mysterious disease and a diverse medical team must work together to discover what it is and find a cure before it spreads.

Is there something in your plot you can play off of, without giving too much away? Like, say

    "The enemy is within"

. . . if the disease turns out to have a genetic trigger.

Or with the title Asystole, maybe come up with something that pulls in the various meanings of the word "heart."

If they have no input in your work, why are they even asking for a tagline? Shouldn't they just publish it the way the author wrote it?
