As I've made a return to writing, after a long hiatus, I thought it a good idea to get involved with fellow writers. I live in Victoria (south eastern Australia) and got my start writing as a journalist cadet. A lot about me and my writing has changed since then. My three favourite things are; cats, coffee and chocolate. Not necessarily in that order. Currently I'm working on a revised edition for two of my books that were first published about eight years ago. I write exclusively about vampires and like dropping them in some period of history/mythology and see if they can swim. As an Aussie, I'm pretty chill, so go ahead and say "Hi", I don't bite.
I found this amusing from someone who writes exclusively about vampires Welcome to the forums. Look forward to seeing your writings!
LOL Must've been a Freudian slip. Not sure how much I'll be sharing, my work is like a baby; I don't hand it around to strangers.
Obviously, it is your choice, however, in my experience, it is hard to improve without criticism. It is like the true but over-used example of steel going through fire to become a blade. When you do choose to go for it, have thick skin and keep an open mind. I have learned lots by participating in the workshop both in doing critiques and in having my own work critiqued.
Hi, MentalMalcontent! (As requested...) Dropping well-known things or characters in an unusual context is great - it's sort of an experiment where you never know how it ends. Until you wrote through it.
