    Wattpad

    Discussion in 'Self-Publishing' started by cazann34, Apr 2, 2013.

I'm wondering if anyone here has used Wattpad to post any of their work and if they had a positive experience doing so?

Wasn't there a girl who got a publishing contract after posting her stories on a website like this?

There are many such examples. I had posted a short story and a novelette on wattpad a long time ago, and i read other's work there quite often.

I will look into it. I was watching a live interview on random house's website of two of their authors and they both talked about this phenomenon where more and more people get some attention from posting samples of their work on such websites and that helps them get contracts. I remember they mentioned four or five recognizable examples by name and i will see if i can find it (it was about 6 months ago).

Wondered when wattpad would pop up on this site. The site does have some decent reads but a lot of them are badly written, twilight inspired romances. It seems the site is aimed at teens/young adults. There are other websites like it too, I think inkpop is the name, that have publishers read the highest rated stories.

Frankly, I wouldn't bet the farm on being 'discovered' via any display sites. Publishers might peruse them, but your better chance is a good query letter put in front of them.
