    Am I reading this right?

Discussion in 'Traditional Publishing' started by astroannie, Jan 25, 2012.

I submitted something for consideration for a publication's spring issue but was told there was only one spot left for something in that issue and I might have "better luck" submitting for the summer issue. There were also suggested tweaks (commas and italicism suggestions).

The fact that the editor is suggesting tweaks leads me to believe I have a realistic shot at summer.

    What do y'all think?

Sounds right. I doubt that they would waste their time giving you criticism and asking you to resubmit if they weren't interested at all.
Don't get too excited, but definitely resubmit it for their summer issue.

It does sound positive. Work on the criticism and re submit. Good Luck :)

thank you for reading my post and for your feedback.

My particular issue is that I thought I would either be accepted or rejected--hoping for the former but being prepared for the latter. In-between caught me off-guard.

In-between means you did catch a submission's editor's attention. That means your manuscript showed enough promise for a busy editor to take the time on your manuscript to offer feedback.

It is not an acceptance, but is nevertheless worth a small celebration. But it also means you should address the criticisms and learn from them. Your work is on the threshhold of acceptance. MNow is the time to make it dazzle with brilliance.
