Greetings, writers. My name's Terry and I'm from the insular island that is the UK. I myself do enjoy writing, mostly waxing poetry and lyrics - very much a wannabe poet or musician, but it's not entirely why I signed up to this forum. You see, I had been in Xi'an, China, teaching English as a second language and when I moved into the last apartment I had there, I found an assuming chest tucked away under a bed. Inside the chest I found hundreds of pages of transcripts that ostensibly document recorded conversations on cassettes between a psychiatrist and his patient back in 1974, along with notes, footnotes and letters. Most are intact, some are intelligible and there's a lot of bizarre scribbles. It's all weird to say the least. The most peculiar thing about them is that the transcriber themselves seemed to have succumbed to madness; the more I read, the more unhinged this transcriber became. Since returning to the UK and bringing with me this chest of what I consider to be gold, I have been typing it all up on Word and wish to share them in the vein hope that I can reach this transcriber that I think is called Mal. That's all the information I have on them. As for the contents, I really can't vouch for the authenticity. It could all very well be fiction. In any case, I'm hoping I can Mal so that they may get their work returned to them and take all credit. Is there a place here to share the contents?
Hello Terry, I’m not sure that this site allows you to share contents of somebody else’s work besides your own. It’s a copy rite issue and it’s not allowed without his or hers expressed permission.
I understand. Though no date is writ anywhere in these notes, Mal uses a lot of citations and the latest dates of those are 2001. I suspect that Mal might have finished these transcripts possibly that year, but I'm unable to ascertain why I found them in a cheap apartment in Xi'an earlier this year. I'm concerned and hoping that I can use the internet to find Mal and return their work. I should note that the contents are very strange and I have reason to believe that Mal may be in danger.
Not only that but if these are, in fact true or even semi-autobiographical, patient-client privilege should still be preserved regardless of however reckless the doctor was with them, and releasing details could compromise that privilege.
I figured that breach of confidentiality would get mentioned. The thing is, Mal states in their introduction that they tried to get in contact with former staff at St. Andrews Hospital in Norwich (it closed in 1998) and was told that no Dr. Hems ever worked there and there's no record of a Lily Tullet either. Mal had even searched old phone directories to no avail. I decided to have a gander too, and like Mal, can't find records of these people's existence either. To be honest, I think the cassettes are made up; pure fictional. It's Mal's story that I'm mostly concerned with. In regards to copyright and permission, well, there's Mal's 'dedication' page: [deleted by mod ]
