    greetings

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by hedgerowpete, Dec 10, 2019.

    Peter here from the uk.

looking to work on a couple of non fiction books and or training guides. done a huge amount of writting before hand but most of it is typewritter diarrhoea, so its editing i want to work on as well as learning how to settle on a writting style as at the moment it comes out in one of four styles and i want to kill three of them off and settle down the flood of blah blah that seams to flow.

Hi there, hedgerowpete! (That's a name to conjure with....)

I’m one of the forum moderators and I want to welcome you to the forum.

Unfortunately, it’s that ‘time of the year’ and I’m falling badly behind on my forum duties, including writing personal welcomes to all the new members, which is what I normally like to do. So please forgive me if this ‘welcome’ is general, not personal. Consider it a Christmas form letter from a Forum mod!

Just to keep you on track or get you on track if you’re just starting out here …please take the time to read these two links. They help to get you oriented, and also give you a notion of how we operate here.

If you want a quick way to explore the forum offerings, here is a great link below, and I use it often myself. It’s not a series of Frequently Asked Questions, but is, rather, a site map with links.

If you have any problems getting settled, don’t hesitate to ‘start a conversation’ with me, and I’ll do my best to help. (Just click on my owl avatar and follow the signs.)

Anyway, take your time, settle in, participate in any threads that draw your interest. Giving critiques in the Workshop section is much appreciated by our members, and is also a requirement if you want to post your own work for feedback. So might as well get a head start there.

Our contests are also open to new members, both for entry and for voting. So you might want to check these out as well.

Anyway, hope you enjoy yourself, and I’ll see you around the threads. Probably AFTER Christmas!

Cheers, Jan

    Thanks Jan,

honestly i find 95% of the forum beyond me and tiny parts that i do understand friendly enough to work with. I am not a writer or have great writing plans to conquer the publishing world. Yet to meet any bad people yet but made several posts and i have not been trolled so its a refreshing change to be here.

My area is the mechcanics of writing rather than the content, so I am struggling there as here its all about conent rather than mechcanics, i take it everyone here passed their english exams, lol. but we are getting there, i dug out the old computer hard drives and started to find all my old half writen atemps in a hope to resurrect one of them

Well, I'm a moderator and there are lots of areas of the forum I've never (or rarely) visited either! Trolling isn't allowed on the forum, so if we see it happening or if it gets reported, we do deal with it. So move ahead with your exploration without fear. And do let us know if you encounter any difficulties. We'll do our best to help.

Me! Me! I was an idiot in English, and I hated writing for 50 years. Now, I can't stop!
