    My experience ex facebook engineer

Discussion in 'Writing Software and Hardware' started by misstwocoins, Aug 26, 2024.

As a former FAANG engineer and book lover, I created a tool out of passion to solve a problem I personally faced: safely sharing book previews. It's a hobby project made with love, and I'm looking for honest feedback to make it better.

I recently used it to send a preview to a journalist, which let me choose specific pages to share without risking leaks or sending the whole book.

I've put the link in my Instagram bio so friends and family can easily check out the preview. There's an Amazon link in there if they want to buy, but no pressure.

I'm not here to promote, just to get genuine thoughts. What do you think of the tool? Any features you'd like to see or ways we could improve it? I'd really appreciate your input.

Aside from the spam angle this is a solution looking for a problem

if you want to send a book excerpt you simply cut and paste it into a word document and save as PDF before sending it be email

also the risk of leaks is a joke, no one cares at all about a book by an unknown, while reputable reviewers won’t leak work by name authors because they won’t risk angering the big publishers

and marketing to friends and family is a bad idea anyway as it screws with your also boughts
