    Early cartography techniques.

Discussion in 'Research' started by CDRW, Jul 15, 2008.

I'm looking for sources about early (say 1600's-1800's) cartography techniques and tools, and I'm having a difficult time finding much information. Does anybody know much about the subject or any books or links I could look at?

The reason I want to know is because I'm thinking of having a main character be a cartographer, and I want to know what exactly goes into it.

what went into it on the drafting side then is pretty much what's gone into it up to now, minus the electronic and space technology... the 'hand' tools haven't changed much...

how much googling had you done before asking here, to find the info you need?...

Thanks Maia I did quite a bit of searching. *sigh* I guess I just need to figure out how to use search engines better.
