I'd like to say that because of the bizarre year that we have been having my writing has been nonexistent. However, that's probably not true. I have been having this indestructible writer's block for years now. I have written stuff here and there, but I have failed every attempt to start a routine. I went out and purchased a few nice and pricey journals, thinking that maybe writing about my life would inspire me. No. Did not happen. Those pricey journals are somewhere under the pile of books I have read. So here I am, hoping that by interacting with others I will be able to write again. I tend to write about magic, sci-fi, maybe even attempt a bit of cosmic horror. But there's this idea that I poured so much of myself into. A story that I have been building little by little. And that's what I want to focus on. Anyways, sorry for such a long and dreadful introduction. My name is David, I'm from Los Angeles, but now living in Ontario California.
Awesome! If you find one, let us know, ok? (Kidding, this right here is the best!) Welcome aboard, and nice avatar pic!
Welcome David, if you're struggling to get into routine it may be an idea to consider how you organise your days. I hated the 10am-6pm hours I did at my job working for a music agency, and once dinner and exercise was over by the time I got home I had no motivation or energy to write. I fixed that by heading to a cafe at 7am every morning and making sure I was writing by 7:30am every day. Good luck with your project.
Welcome! Since I started interacting on here, I've found myself writing more. Hopefully it will do the same for you
You'll find a lot of company for fantasy and horror. You will also find plenty of advice in old threads by people who have had the same problem - or you can pose your own question. You can read and review what others are producing, which might be inspirational. Also, check out the extensive resources section. Plenty of help available!
Thanks for the welcome. I actually joined this forum thinking that it would help me write. I'm glad it's worked for you.
Hi David. Hopefully you find what you need in the community. I'd suggest entering our monthly short story, flash fiction and poetry competitions. The prize might only be a picture under your name and bragging rights, but they're a great way to focus on a short, sharp bit of writing that might trigger you to write more. Give it a try.
