Hi all. I'm the FNG, from Colorado. I'm hoping to connect with fellow writers to learn new things, enjoy common interests, and maybe critique and be critiqued. I've been writing science fiction since I was a kid, mostly inspired by Ray Bradbury, Philip K. Dick, and Isaac Asimov. Since about 2009, I've started taking writing more seriously. Nothing published yet, but I'm currently working on a few stories. If you're curious about anything, don't be shy.
Welcome! Inspirations of my own... Since you mention the old guard, Frank Herbert, Ursula K. LeGuin, Marion Zimmer Bradley (these for their imagination), A.C. Clarke for his economy. Samuel R. Delany for his humbling magic with prose. Octavia Butler for her questions. China MiƩville and M. John Harrison for their utter madness! You'll have gotten a PM from me upon joining. Give it a scan. Answers to the more frequently asked questions are there. Have the fun! Wrey
I did get that PM, yes. Thank you for the suggestions for inspiration. I haven't heard of some of those, so I've got some looking to do at the library this coming week.
